Dairy

There is a great deal of misinformation that exists around the topic of dairy consumption. We have been raised to believe that dairy is a necessary and beneficial part of our health and diet. However, more studies are beginning to prove otherwise.

Using dairy is completely unnatural. All we have to do is look at nature to see exactly why. We don’t see tigers, elephants, or any other animals for that matter, breast feeding their cubs other animals’ milk, it’s simply not natural. Since we are human beings, we have the ability to use different animals milk if we so desire. This depends largely in part on our geographic location and what is available to us. There are many regions where milk is used in higher quantities such as Scandinavian Countries, Northern America and Ukrainian countries. Whereas places like Africa and Asia have not had dairy products as a major part of their diet. A lot of people that reside in those areas have not adapted to milk and are unable to digest dairy products.

Regardless of your geographic location or your personal dairy preferences, there are certain facts about dairy that can not be ignored. Here is an overview of what is happening before the milk carton reaches our fridge.

First of all, the cows making milk are not being fed the right kind of food, they are not treated properly, and they are being fed a very unhealthy diet. Many of them are eating meat products, when they should be purely grass fed. This is actually how mad cow disease started. They are ingested with growth hormones to increase the meat production which is very unnatural. This creates great damage on the organs. Due to the horrific treatment of these animals and the cruel processes that they go through, any of the enzymes and vitamins that help us to digest dairy are eliminated or destroyed. On top of that we have homogenization which breaks up the enzymes. What happens is the molecules become much smaller, they enter the bloodstream and they damage the interior walls. This leads to potential problems such as high cholesterol. Milk also contains harmful properties which aggravate the human stomach. Research shows that it could lead to even more dangerous conditions such as aggravation to the central nervous system and in some cases, even cancer.

Even if milk was providing nutrients to our bodies, it no longer is beneficial after it goes through these processes. It can cause mucus in the digestive tract. In the restorative system, it leads to congestion in the areas which can cause asthma and bronchitis as side effects. When it creates mucus in the digestive tract, it creates a coating in the digestive system, when we have that coating; we restrict the absorption of nutrients and minerals.

A lot of people argue that we drink milk for the calcium, although milk does have calcium, there is a high ratio of calcium to magnesium which is not ideal for human beings, it should be a high ratio of magnesium to calcium. Milk also has a high amount of phosphoric acidity. When we have too much of that acid, our system, our blood stream becomes too acidic and in order to neutralize that, there are four different elements that are needed. Calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium are all necessary to neutralize the acidity. These four elements are crucial in preventing calcium deposits into our body. Calcium deposits in the bladder, breasts, ovaries, prostate and in our joints which can lead to diseases such as osteoporosis and arthritis.

While it is my advice that you avoid dairy products as much as possible, if you do choose to consume dairy, at least be certain that the products you consume are organic and not homogenized. If possible, it is a much better choice for your health to choose alternative options. Some excellent choices would be almond milk, rice milk, oat milk, hemp milk, coconut milk and cashew nut milk. Most of these are also available in other forms such as yogurt and ice cream. I suggest trying a variety of these milk products to find which will be the best fit for both your taste buds and your lifestyle. I promise that this change will be one more component in bringing you closer towards living a life of optimum health.
